Portrait Project at The World Theatre Gallery Nov 2015

EXCITING NEWS!
The Portrait Project is being exhibited at The World Theatre Gallery during November 2015!

An exciting initiative begun in 2010 by photographer Karen Tenni, participants were selected or nominated from Charters Towers Residents (approx 8,500 in the region) and cover a broad spectrum of professions, ages and cultural backgrounds, providing a diverse study of Australian regional life.

Begun in 2010, with the support of the Regional Art Development Fund (RADF) - a Qld government and Charters Towers Regional Council partnership, the exhibition at the Don Roderick Gallery in October 2011 was celebration of the first part of a multi-stage project.

Do you know someone interesting that could be interested in being photographed as a record of life in Charters Towers?  Contact Karen on M 0409 005 085.

about the project... Portrait Project: Charters Towers. Photography by Karen Tenni

An exciting initiative by photographer Karen Tenni, participants were selected from Charters Towers Residents (from approx 8,500 in the region) and cover a broad spectrum of professions, ages and cultural backgrounds, providing a diverse study of Australian regional life.  Begun in 2010, with the support of the Regional Art Development Fund (RADF) - a Qld government and Charters Towers Regional Council partnership, the exhibition at the Don Roderick Gallery in October 2011 was celebration of the first part of a multi-stage project.

Charters Towers is a regional town 130km inland from Townsville in Queensland.  Main industries are mining, cattle and education, with a broad range of support services and organisations.  There is also a significant Aboriginal population based in the region.

The Charters Towers Portrait Photo Project comprises of digital environmental photographic portraits of significant and interesting residents in the Charters Towers region.

Each participant chose to have their photographic portrait taken in one of three locations (work, home or play); answer a few questions about their life in Charters Towers; and introduces/suggests  another resident they think will add significance to the project.

Stage 2 will begin soon... do you know someone who should be imortalised ?
If you would like to be part of this project, please contact Karen Tenni on 0409 005 085,  or email karen.tenni@gmail.com.
